Wächtomat B2
The Wächtomat B2 functions according to the well-known system of moisture measurement with an adjustable sensitivity setting.
Increased sweating by the mare is a typical indicator that foaling is near. The Wächtomat measures the increase in moisture on the horse's coat using a special electrode.
An alarm is triggered when a predetermined threshold value is exceeded.
This type of moisture measurement has proven to be the most effective method.
The transmitter necessary for the signal is fastened to the mare by means of a breastplate and surcingle.
Advantage: The mare retains unlimited freedom of movement, which means the transmitter is accepted even by sensitive mares or those that have not been ridden. A thin cable functions as the transmitter antenna; it runs from the halter at the right side of the horse's neck (near the throatlatch area) down to its withers. The transmitter has a range of roughly 200 m.
